How to Stop TiviMate from Buffering During Live Sports

There is nothing worse than the buffering wheel appearing right before a knockout in a UFC fight or a touchdown in the NFL. If your TiviMate application is constantly freezing, skipping, or showing HTTP Error 401, here is the technical checklist to fix your stream in 2026.

1. Fix Error 401 (Unauthorized)

If you see Error 401, it means your provider's server is actively blocking your connection. This often happens because ISPs block the default TiviMate "User-Agent." To fix this, go to Settings > General > User-Agent in TiviMate and type in IPTVSmartersPro or VLC/3.0.9. This tricks your ISP into thinking you are using a standard media player, bypassing basic blocks.

2. Clear the EPG Cache

Over time, the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) stores massive amounts of data, which bogs down your Firestick's RAM. Go to your Firestick Settings, find the TiviMate app, and click Clear Cache (Do NOT click Clear Data, or you will lose your login). Then, open TiviMate, go to Settings > EPG, and click Clear EPG, followed by Update EPG.

3. Stop ISP Throttling with a VPN

If your stream only buffers on Sunday afternoons or during major PPV events, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is likely throttling your bandwidth. Protect your connection by running a premium VPN (like NordVPN) in the background. This encrypts your traffic so your ISP cannot slow down your live television feed.

4. Upgrade Your Server Backend

If you have tried all these steps and the stream still buffers, your current provider has oversold their servers. You are running on cheap, low-tier infrastructure.
